Hi @HOTROD1975,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

Sorry for the inconvenience caused don’t worry let me help you.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • Is the slow speed happening only when downloading updates, or also when browsing/streaming?
  • Do you notice the slowdown only on this HP laptop, or on other devices connected to the same Wi‑Fi?
  • Have you already tried updating any drivers manually, or is this the first time you’re looking into it?

Here are a few things you can try right away:

  • Check Windows Update: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and install any pending updates. This often includes driver updates.
  • HP Support Assistant: Many HP laptops come with this tool preinstalled. Open it and run a check it will automatically detect outdated drivers and install the latest versions.
  • Manual Driver Update: Visit the  https://support.hp.com/in-en/drivers and enter your laptop’s model (HP N3060). You’ll find the latest drivers for network and chipset there.
  • Network Troubleshooting: If possible, connect the laptop directly with an Ethernet cable. Wired connections are usually faster and more stable than Wi‑Fi, especially when downloading large updates.
  • Wi‑Fi Optimization: If you must stay on Wi‑Fi, try moving closer to the router, restarting it, or ensuring no other devices are heavily using bandwidth at the same time.

I hope this helps.

Hi @HOTROD1975,

Thanks for you repsonse.

I’m really sorry to hear about the trouble you had with Windows 11 on your HP device. I completely understand how it must have been to experience freezing issues, especially after trying to work through updates with Microsoft support.

At HP, we want your system to run smoothly and reliably. While some HP models are fully compatible with Windows 11, others may have limitations with drivers or hardware support, which can unfortunately lead to the kind of problems you described. Falling back to Windows 10 was a practical choice, since it ensures stability and continued support for your device.

Here’s what I’d recommend moving forward:

  • Check HP Support Assistant: This tool can automatically detect and install the latest drivers specific to your model.
  • Verify compatibility: If you’d like to try Windows 11 again in the future, you can check your exact HP model on our compatibility list to confirm whether it’s fully supported.

I hope this helps.

Hi @HOTROD1975,

Thanks for your response.

I hear how urgent this must be for you losing wireless connectivity when you rely on your laptop for both business and personal use. You’ve already tried working with Microsoft to load drivers, so I understand the issue still isn’t resolved. Let’s see if we can narrow things down together.

 Few troubleshooting Steps to Try:

  • HP Support Assistant: Download and run HP Support Assistant. It often finds the correct wireless driver automatically.
  • Manual Driver Install: Visit HP’s official support page for your exact model and download the Windows 10 wireless LAN driver. Sometimes the generic Microsoft driver doesn’t work.
  • Enable Wireless in BIOS: Restart and enter BIOS setup (usually Esc or F10 at startup). Check if the wireless LAN option is enabled.
  • Network Reset: In Windows 10, go to Settings → Network & Internet → Status → Network reset. This reinstalls all network adapters and may restore functionality.
  • Check Windows Updates (Optional Drivers): Go to Settings → Update & Security → Windows Update → View optional updates. Wireless drivers sometimes appear there.
  • Hardware Toggle: Some HP laptops have a function key (like F12 with a wireless icon) to enable/disable Wi-Fi. Make sure it’s switched on.

If none of these steps bring the wireless back, it may be that the Windows 10 driver for your specific wireless card isn’t installing correctly.
I hope this helps.
