In my laptop I am using 240 GB Netac sata SSD with a 8GB (GeIL) ddr3 1600 Mhz ram and 4 GB SK Hynix ddr3 1600 MHz ram. If I replace my 4 GB ram stick with a Netac 8 GB ddr3 ram, will is provide any significant performence difference? Is it worth to spend here? What are the pros and cons / cost- benefit ?

An 8 GB memory chip will cost less than $15.

@Paul ,As I mentioned earlier, I already have 2 rams in my laptop ( one 8GB & another 4 GB). In this case, will I be able to take advantage of two 8 GB rams as opposed to the current state?

The guy explains the benefits of the memory running in dual channel, which yours is not running in with 12 GB.
Memory runs in dual channel mode when there are matching memory capacities in each slot.
It will help a little.
If you don't want to invest $15, then don't do the upgrade.
