HP Notebook 15s-fq1053tu
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I want to connect two screens to my laptop (not use laptop screen) connected via a USB-C connected hub. My laptop specs say the USB-C port on my laptop is data only. (1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signalling rate); 2 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A (Data Transfer Only); 1 AC smart pin; 1 HDMI 1.4b; 1 headphone/microphone combo).

Does this mean I cannot connect a hub to it? The hub I was considering is the Kogan 12 In 1 Triple Display USB Type-C Hub Docking Station Adapter With Dual 4K HDMI Display.

Using the link you supplied, i looked at the UG69PD2 USB-C Dual 4K Docking Station with Power Delivery. It has a USB-C link to the computer for charging. Obviously, this does not apply to my computer, so I gather this unit is not suitable?

In the meantime, I have had a conversation with an IT friend and he has put me on to the Shintaro Blazer USB Universal Docking Station SHDHD3 which seems to accommodate my needs.

Anyway, thanks for your help.

@RodHarvey

The specs of your machine is

              https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06534862

It ONLY has 1 USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C™ (Data Transfer Only, 5 Gb/s signaling rate) port which does NOT support Alt mode nor Power Delivery. You can NOT use it to

  • Charge your machine
  • Connect to an external monitor with / without hub/dock/adapter

If you wish to have 2 or more external monitors (and notebook monitor - total 3), please enter your requirement on the following link and it will find for you few USB-A DisplayLink Certified options on market today including some HP products (you can select HP before Search)
