hi, I have an elitebook 840 G3 with a 823956-0001 256gb SSD

I'd like to upgrade t 1TB.

Crucial list several as compatible but this has the twin slot connector

Crucial MX500 1TB 3D NAND M.2 Type 2280 Internal SSD

  • CT1000MX500SSD4
  • Configuration ID: CT11447852

Would this fit/is it compatible?

Thanks

You're very welcome.

Yes, the single notch NVMe drive will fit in the M.2 slot.

The difference is that it will use the contacts that the SATA drive is not using, because of the other notch it has.

Hi:

The HP part number you posted shows the same SATA configuration...

The service manual indicates that you can also use a NVMe M.2 SSD in your model.  Chapter 1.

NVMe drives provide much better read/write speeds than SATA drives do, so you may want to consider installing one of the supported NVMe drives offered by Crucial instead of the SATA one you chose.

Paul, thank you for your quick reply.

The Crucial NVMe drive only has one slot in the connector where mine has 2 slots. Will it fit?
