I need to upgrade the RAM in my old 2540p and have understood the manual's instructions. My problem is that wherever I search online I keep finding that recommended RAM for this particular laptop is NON-ECC, but the only place from where I can purchase the 2x4gb set only offers ones with ECC. Is the 2540p compatible with this or must it be a NON-ECC, as I am not familiar with the subject?

Hi,

You need a NON-ECC memory. ECC is usually used in servers. It should support any 1066MHz DDR3 modules in my opinion. Try ebay or any other online retailer.
