I received a HP EliteBook 865 G9 about 3 days ago. It shipped with Windows 10. I updated to Windows 11 via Microsoft's upgrade utility, but had issues with Windows Defender detecting HP's software as a virus afterwards. So I reformatted the system and reinstalled Windows 11 via an external USB drive.
Whenever I type, the touchpad turns off. This "feature" is referred to as "PalmCheck" by Synaptics. However, my laptop reports that it has an ELAN touchpad, not a Synaptics touchpad.
I can't figure out how to ENABLE the built-in touchpad while typing on the built-in keyboard. I've searched through Windows' registry, tried ETDProperties and various other apps from the Microsoft Store, etc.
Device Manager reports that my touchpad is an ELAN model 0768, whatever that means. It's listed as a "HID-compliant mouse", and appears to be using generic Microsoft drivers.
