Want to upgrade the SSD, (HP ENVY 13t-ad100 laptop) from its 256gb ssd to a 1tb.
Looking at either the Samsung 970 EVO Plus vs the Crucial P5 ssd's. )
Both M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe Gen 3x4 units, Hoping they are both compatible (Crucial is $20.00 less) if someone could verify fit and function.
Will either and/or both fit and work in this Laptop, someone could verify please ?
Who makes the installed 256gb, service manual list it as:
256-GB, 2280 M.2, PCIe3×4, NVMe solid-state drive with TLC 847109-021
Option is - 1-TB, 2280 M.2, PCIe3×4, NVMe solid-state drive with TLC 865697-007
Will adding the Evo Plus or the Crucial P5 really make any difference in daily operation, boot up, worling with spread sheet or databse, copying jpeg and or music files around ?
(Yes I asked a similar but different question 9 months ago

Hi:
According to the part number you posted for the 256 GB MVMe SSD, it is made by Lite-on.
847109-021 - Hewlett-packard (HP) - 256GB M2 PCIE 3X4SS TLC BS Hard Drive (SSD) | Impact Computers
Since it will probably be difficult to find any specs on that model drive, I suggest you run the free CrystalDiskMark software and get the sequential read/write speeds of the OEM disk and compare them with the advertised sequential read/write speeds for the P5 and the 970.
That would be the first report that is listed.

Theoretically, any brand NVMe 2280 SSD should work.

Thx, for the reply on the OEM SSD. Unfortunately my internal ssd 256g is near full and can't spare room to run the Test.
Still looking for advice on upgrade, info.. is it actually worth the expense for a faster rated ssd like the Samsung 970 EVO Plus, Crucial P5, Samsung 980 over a standard budget ssd.
