HP ENVY TouchSmart 15t-j100
Linux

I have a hosed ENVY TouchSmart 15t-j100 laptop. I gutted the machine to replace the top case, and upon reassembly, it seems the motherboard is dead. This laptop has a discrete NVIDIA GPU, which is unneeded now (and unwanted, since there's no updated Linux driver available anymore).

PartSurfer says the part number for the motherboard is 720566-001. eBay auctions suggest other compatible part numbers, but I also found another board, part 720565-501, which appears to be physically identical and compatible, but lacking the discrete GPU chipset (and necessary additional RAM chips). Am I correct that I can install this board in my busted laptop and make use of all the other existing components?

Is there an AMD motherboard that would fit in my chassis? I see 720578-501 is AMD-based; is it physically compatible with the Intel models of this family of laptops?

It is an old machine, probably 11 years old now. It is a CTO machine therefore you can use System boards on pages 63-64 of the following manual (please try boards with same existing processor (Intel or AMD)).
