I'm a new owner of the HP ENVY x360 15-aq273cl from Coscto. I'd like to add another 4GB memory to the second slot.
The manual I've found says the screws on the back are Phillips M2.0×5.2 but looking at them they are clearly star-drive screws. Does anyone know what size Star-drive bit they might be?
This is the manual I found. Is it the correct manual?

Thanks!

Thanks for reaching out to us on HP Support Forums. I came across your post and would like to assist.
I understand that you have an HP ENVY x360 15-aq273cl laptop and would like to add another 4GB memory into it. And would like to know what type of a screw driver bit can be used to remove the screws.
You could try using a Phillips screwdriver and that should work.
Moreover, I suggest you to use this service manual and this is the correct one.
Hope this information helps. Let me know. Good luck! 🙂

There are two memory slots in the laptop and only one is being used with an 8 gigabit module. I'd like to know how much I can put in the second slot. I thought it was only 4 more gigabytes but I'm coming across information that suggests I might be able to put another 8 gigabit module in there.

Thank you for replying.
Below mentioned are the memory modules supported by the laptop:
The page# 49 shows how to replace the memory.
However, the product specifications of the HP ENVY x360 - 15-aq273cl show that this laptop already has a 12 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (4 GB (onboard) and 8 GB (1 x 8 GB)).
Hope this helps. Feel free to keep me posted. Cheers! 🙂

So regardless how much memory is in the first slot, and how much is "on board", are there any restrictions as to the size of memory module I can put in the second slot?
The manual you linked to above says "copyright 2015" and on pg 46 talks about the memory needed for windows 8. I don't think that's the right manual...

Thanks Barachiel,
I think that's the most accurate manual I've seen. Third edition is Sept '17 so it's probably up to date. It suggests that I can have up to 16GB memory in this laptop with as much as 8GB in any one slot. (it comes with 8GB in one slot with the other empty)
For anyone else reading... the manual says you'll need a Philips bit for the rear case screws but my laptop takes a #5 star drive bit.

Another question on this laptop... Afaict, the HP site suggests I would get up to 9hrs operating time out of the battery. I'm just surfing the net with it and I'm only getting 4-5hrs. Screen brightness is set at 80%.
I'm not streaming/playing video, installing software, playing music or anything that should use battery life faster. I realize it says "up to" 9hrs but I'm not taxing it and I'm only getting half that.
I generally don't use the touch screen. Is there a way to turn that off and would doing so extend battery life?

Hi @John-Charleston ,
Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
The 9 hours suggested, is on optimal usage of the notebook, like if you leave it in hibernation mode, the background programs will still keep running, and hence forth the hard drive, memory and other components as well. 🙂 That said, i would say, the best way to get the maximum out of the battery is to shut down the computer when not in use. 😉
If I have helped you resolve the issue, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" from the drop-down menu on the upper right corner,
Thank you for posting in the HP Support Forum. Have a great day!

" i would say, the best way to get the maximum out of the battery is to shut down the computer when not in use. "
That's lamer than lame... Of course the battery life will be extended if I shut down the laptop. And is hibernation mode really what HP meant by "up to 9 hrs"??? Hibernation mode??? REALLY??? Hibernation mode is NOT using the laptop.
I thank you for your previous answer but this answer is a non-answer at best and an insult at worst. Can you at least answer my question as to whether disabling the touch screen will save battery power?
