Hello,
I have a problem after Windows 10 performed some updates—my notebook keyboard is no longer working. In Device Manager, I see an exclamation mark next to Standard PS/2 Keyboard.
I have tried various fixes, including uninstalling the keyboard, updating the driver (but I receive a message stating that the latest drivers are already installed), and more. I encountered this issue in the past and had to reinstall Windows 10, but the problem reappeared after some mandatory Windows updates were installed.
The keyboard does not work under Windows 11 either. I switched to Windows 11 a few months ago, and everything worked fine except for the keyboard.
How can I fix this issue? I couldn't find any recent drivers for my model on HP’s website that could override Windows' default ones. Any suggestions?
Thanks!
PS: HP utility tools does not detect any problem.

Hi @andreis78,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your keyboard!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
It seems like a driver conflict or possibly a firmware issue might be the culprit behind your HP ENVY x360 keyboard acting up after Windows updates. Since you’ve already tackled the basics, let’s try diving into some more detailed solutions.
First, you could manually reinstall the keyboard driver. Open Device Manager (Win + X), find "Standard PS/2 Keyboard" under Keyboards, and uninstall the device. Restart your laptop, and Windows should reinstall the driver automatically. If it doesn’t solve the issue, try updating the driver again by selecting "Browse my computer for drivers" and choosing the "HID Keyboard Device" option from the list.
Another useful step would be to reset the keyboard settings. In Device Manager, go to Properties for your keyboard, head to the Power Management tab, and uncheck the option allowing the computer to turn off the device to save power. Restart and see if that brings the keyboard back to life.
Sometimes, hidden devices in Device Manager can cause conflicts. Enable "Show hidden devices" from the View menu, expand Keyboards, and uninstall any grayed-out drivers. A restart afterward might do the trick.
Lastly, it’s always worth visiting HP’s support page to ensure you have the correct driver
