HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 15-ee0012nf

Hello, my laptop  Envy x360 15-ee0012nf is working weird, fan is almost always running (90% of the time).

It is seated in a standing support (no heat from bottom), I have change in the HP command center to "recommand by HP" setup for thermal profil, as when i select "silent", it completely slows down.

No specific software running at the time (Edge with 3 webpage open), and fan continuously running.

Fan are cleaned up, drivers updated, latest version of windows 11.

Any idea? overheat of the AMD chip needing better cooling system? Hard factory reset need?

Thanks for the help

Antony

Hi @Anto17,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If the fan on your HP Envy x360 laptop is always running, it could be due to several reasons.

  • High CPU usage: If your laptop is running resource-intensive applications or processes, the CPU may heat up, causing the fan to spin faster to cool it down.
  • Dust buildup: Over time, dust can accumulate in the fan and heat sink, obstructing airflow and causing the fan to work harder to maintain normal operating temperatures.
  • Outdated BIOS: An outdated BIOS (Basic Input/Output System) can cause the fan to run continuously, as the system may not be able to properly regulate temperature.
  • Malware or virus infection: Malware or viruses can cause your computer to run processes in the background, increasing CPU usage and heat generation.

To resolve the issue, you can try the following solutions.

  • Close unnecessary applications and processes to reduce CPU usage.
  • Clean the fan and heat sink to remove dust buildup.
  • Update the BIOS to the latest version.
  • Scan your computer for malware or viruses and remove any threats.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply,

I have done cleaning and closing of unnecessary softwares and still fans are running loud even on web surfing.

The laptop is clean of malware and bios updated.

Maybe I will have to do a factory reset.

Thanks for the time.
