I understand how frustrating it is to see a SMART Hard Disk Error 301 on a brand-new HP Victus 2050 144Hz laptop, especially when the warranty has already expired. Let me guide you with a few HP steps to move forward.
Immediate Steps You Should Take
- Back Up Your Data Immediately
- If your laptop still boots into Windows, use File History or any backup tool to save your important files to an external drive.

- Run HP Hardware Diagnostics
- Restart your laptop and press Esc repeatedly during startup.
- Press F2 to enter HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI.
- Go to Component Tests > Storage > Quick Test.
- If Quick Test passes, run the Extensive Test (includes SMART Check, Short DST, Long DST).

- Note Down the Failure ID
- If any test fails, you’ll get a 24-digit Failure ID. Save this code, it’s crucial for support or repair.
