HP ENVY x360 15.6 inch 2-in-1 Laptop PC 15-ey0000 (54J83AV)

Hey, my laptop gives me static shocks after charging, while charging and after removing the charge cable (on average between 4-12 times a week)

Problem:

  • Shocks after charging, even when the cable is removed. (painful electric shock)
  • Shocks while charging (feels like the entire device is "vibrating" when touching while charging (no painful electric shock, but rather a "buzzing" sensation, like a vibrating mobile phone)
  • Shocks even after removing the cable with gloves (insulation), at the first touch (painful electric shock)

What I tried:

  • Using a magnetically detaching usb c adapter - STILL shocks
  • Cleaning the device (did not open it, but wiped it with a microfiber cloth and alcohol)
  • Used different Charging Cable/Adapter.
  • Used different USB Ports to charge

What could be the problem?

  •  I send this device to repair after owning it for 1.5 years, because of a faulty track-pad,  afterwards it worked, but the buzzing sensation started (like point 2 in the problem section)
  • Dust inside the device
  • Both USB-C ports are faulty (tried 5 different cables, 2 different adapters, no change

I'd really like this device fixed, especially because the hardware is ok and I need it for university, but I cant keep using it, because it shocks me a lot.

I am fed up with this, please help.

I'm really sorry you're experiencing this—it sounds both frustrating and potentially dangerous. Please stop using the laptop immediately and take precautions to avoid further electric shocks. Here’s what you should do:

Unplug the Laptop & Avoid Touching It

  • If the device is still connected to power, disconnect it immediately.
  • Avoid touching the laptop until a professional has inspected it.
