I have EliteBook 8440p with i7 M620 4GB RAM and WIndows 7 64bit installed.
I wanted to upgrade my RAM to 8GB as suggested here and bought 2x4GB RAM of:
KINGSTON ValueRAM 4GB DDR3-1333 (PC3-10600) SDRAM-DDR3 1,5 Volt CL9-9-9 204pin
I replaced the 2GB card at the back of the laptop with the 4GB Kingston and when I started the windows:
- The BIOS showed 6GB RAM
- But the Windows startup blocked, staying at the black screen with "Windows starting" without the colorful dots forming into a window.
I tried restarting, but no change.
Any idea what can I try out to fix this issue or upgrade to 8GB?
Thank you,
Nikolay

Your manual does not show that 6GB is supported???
Supports the following configurations:

■ 4096-MB total system memory (4096 x 1)
■ 4096-MB total system memory (2048 x 2)*
■ 3072-MB total system memory (2048 + 1024)*
■ 2048-MB total system memory (2048 x 1)*
■ 2048-MB total system memory (1024 x 2)*
■ 1024-MB total system memory (1024 x 1)*
*Brazil 1333-MHz memory configuration
Your manual here. "Page 2"
Have you tried installing the other 4GB into the Primary memory slot???
