Hello all,
Hopefully someone can help us. We have some HP EliteBook x360 1030 G2 laptops that are out of warranty, so we replaced the motherboard, but cannot find a way to change the serial number from the ones we purchased.
We have tried the keyboard commands that are suggested while in BIOS, but that didnt help. Also the HP DMI tool we use for the Spectres didn't work either.
Any other suggestions would be welcome.
Thank you!
Gabriel

Sorry, but HP no longer supplies the software needed to make such changes. You would need to have HP perform these changes and since these are out of warranty and do not have the original equipment, it is very unlikely that HP will be willing to perform this work.
Since you live in the U.S., here is a link to the HP Service Repair Centers:
https://www.service-center-locator.com/hp-hewlett-packard/hp-hewlett-packard-service-center.htm
If that link does not provide you sufficient information, then use the main HP link:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/contact-hp?openCLC=true
I've found those links to be unreliable if you're using Win10 and the new Edge Browser; so if you are, you need to use something else, like FireFox.
Good Luck

Thanks for the reply, but shouldn't we have the right to repair our own devices? We are able to on other HP laptops we purchased...
Does anyone else have that software? Or a name or direction to search?
Is this the direction HP is going to where HP has to be the one to do the repairs? If it is, then maybe we should consider that next year when we go out for a district wide refresh of computers. If we cant repair computers (out of warranty) then that's a huge disadvantage to us (elementary school district) that cant afford to pay for repairs.
