Elitebook 840G2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an Elitebook 840 G2. Diagnostics say: plug in adaptor as battery is not charging. I have replaced the Battery and the AC adaptor.  I get the same message. The only way the laptop will work is with the ac adaptor plugged in.  So, the adaptor does work and the new battery was good until it ran down. I returned the old battery to the laptop and it will start but same messages.

Any ideas?

Try a power reset of your laptop

Thank you for the assist.

I performed a power reset and that didn't help.  After that I did a system restore; that didn't help either. Any more suggestions?

How about using the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics  UEFI utility to test the battery.

From a power off state, press the power button and immediately tap the F2 key.

Click on Component tests and then Battery test.

Post the results in your next reply.
