Hi, I have elitebook 8440p motherboard: Hewlett-Packard 172B chipset:Intel QM57 (IbexPeak-M DO). I want to place SSD but i dont know what SATA protocol laptop have: SATA I, SATA II, OR SATA III. I know that a SATA III drive will work with e.g. SATA II, but I want to know what the speed of the SSD drive will be in the laptop, and I don't know what SATA connector the laptop has

Hi:

 

Your notebook's SATA controller is SATA II.

 

A SATA III SSD will work fine but at the SATA II transfer speed, and it will still be a noticeable improvement over the 2.5" mechanical hard drive.
