Hello,
Trying to install Windows 10 x64 (Oct2018 update version) in a clean HP elitebook 8470p. This is not an upgrade, i have downloaded the Windows 10 Installation and booted from an external dvd and also from the elitebook dvd . Upon receiving the first Install prompt from Windows Installation the process is interrupted and asked me to provide the media drivers for proceeding. I have not changed the devices of my laptop and i have downloaded all available drivers from the official HP Elitebook 8470p drivers page. I have downloaded, extracted in a usb device and tried to load for continuing the installation processes, but the installation never proceeded. It's not clear what driver is looking for the Windows installation process, and i really don't know how to proceed.
Any help would be really appreciated.
Kind Regards,

Hi:
I'm pretty sure if you made a DVD, the burn is bad.
Make the USB flash drive instead.
To reinstall W10...Use the Media Creation Tool. Make the 64 bit installation media.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, if your PC is not working.
Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...
- Select Download tool now, and select Run.
- If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
- On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.
- Select which media you want to use:
- USB flash drive. Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.
Then you can install the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.

I had downloaded the ISO from a Linux machine and the microsoft win10 page gave me the direct download ISO link. I have burned the ISO correctly, I don't think that was a burn disc issue.
I have downloaded from a Windows machine the media creation tool and followed your instructions. In this way the offered ISO seems to include the required drivers and it has been bypassed the media drivers alerting window.
My point of view is that the ISO created with media creation tool is quite different (the size is larger).
Thank you a lot for pointing me in the right direction.
Kind Regards

You're very welcome.
Give this a try just for fun...
Use the media creation tool on another Windows PC, or your 8470p if you have it working now on W10.
Save the ISO file instead.
Burn the ISO file to a DVD using this free software. When you launch the program, select the 'Burn ISO file' option, and burn the file at the slowest possible speed you can.
I am willing to bet that you don't get the missing media driver error.
