Elitebook 850 G2
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Just bought a used Elitebook 850 G2 and it came with a 500gb HDD and I would like to upgrade to an NVME 500gb m.2 drive instead. I see that it only is compatible with 2242 and 2260 sized m.2 modules, which are usually only SATA based. I would prefer to buy an NVME based module.

Does anyone know of a 500gb NVME m.2 module that is compatible? Will I be able to boot from this drive?

The specs for the series says

 Storage options up to 1 TB Hard Drives, 512 GB Solid State Drives, or 256GB PCIe Solid State Drive
 M.2 32GB Flash Cache for Intel Smart Response Technology installed in the factory
M.2 120GB Solid State Drive & 256GB PCIe Solid State Drive can be configured as primary storage or combined with a SATA
drive for dual storage performance

Manual does not say the length of the M.2 drive

I measured the slot length from the screw hole to the m.2 slot. There is also a screw hole at 42mm.

If I am limited to 256gb, it wouldn’t be the end of the world. I would just prefer 500gb/512gb
