Hi folks, I wonder if one if the hp team could help me identify the difference between 2 boards, I have an elitebook 8560w and I purchased a new board for it that doesnt work, looking at the part numbers they are slightly different so I was wondering if ram had changed or something. Old board is 652637-001 and the new board is 652638-001. The new board wont post and turns on as soon as power is plugged in, then the dreaded flashing caps lock light and black screen. I've exhausted all the options for flashing the bios, hold windows key and B/V or just B, tried the reset, pulled the battery, nothing works. I've ordered a replacement just in case the new board is faulty but thought it may be prudent to check that part number difference.
Many thanks
Alan

So far I have found out that my original is PGA989 possibly produced in 2006 and the new one is socket 479 produced in 2012. I have been unable to find what the difference is yet, the cpu sat in nice so it must be the same socket type but i guess anything is possible, 6 years is a long time for PC hardware, i dont mind replacing memory and cpu.
EDIT:
Looks like one is for dual core and the later one is quad core.
