Elitebook 8770w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've installed my new RAM today, 2x16 GB DDR3-1600. However, the laptop doesn't start with the new modules installed. The display stays off and the lock key lights blink 3 times (memory error). With the old single 8 GB stick, it works absolutely fine.

Is there some kind of limitation I missed?

Yes the largest single module you can use is 8 gigs. Dual core models have 2 slots so overall maximum is 16 gigs. Quad Core models have 4 memory slots and can run up to 32 gigs total but it has to be 4 x 8 not 2 x 16.

Well dammit, that's two months of waiting for delivery out the window!

I actually have a quad-core CPU but only 2 slots. (not the original CPU).

Anyways, thanks for clearing this up!
