Elitebook 8770w

I wanted to clean my laptop and change thermal grease (both were long overdue), and I can't seem to move the service door release latch. The battery release latch works fine, but the service door latch just won't budge. I'm hesitant to use force because I'm afraid to break the locking mechanism. Haven't opened the service door for 2 years, and the laptop is past warranty now, as it's pretty old. Does anybody have any ideas about how I should go about it? Thanks!

Glad to here that.

If it happens again place the palm of your hand on the access door.

Push forwards and back to loosen the door.

When you move the Access Door latch is there a screw under the one end.

If there is remove it and try again.

Hey, REO, thanks for your response, I really appreciate it.

Ironically, right after I posted the question I was able to slide the latch all the way and open the service door! I guess it was just rusty after so much time of not being in use.
