HP ENVY x360 Laptop - 15-ds1063cl
Microsoft Windows 11

I recently installed 990 Pro SSD 4 TB on a HP Envy 360x laptop running Windows 11 and am considering enabling hardware encryption on the SSD rather than using Windows Bitlocker.  Does HP ENVY x360 15-ds1063cl laptop and BIOS (AMI Revision F.14) allow for enabling hardware encrytion?  If so, what are the steps to enable it?

Unfortunately, there are no options for enabling hardware encryption in the BIOS for your laptop.

Windows Bitlocker encryption is going to be as good as it gets.

Hi Erico!

Thank you for your swift reply.  Is this something you know for sure as I cannot find any details on it saying it does or doesnt?

Thanks!

Richard

If Windows 11 or 10 allows the self encryption feature follow the instructions at the Microsoft web document at the link.

Thanks for your 2nd email.  Are you now stating the laptop from a hardware perspective DOES allow for SED SSD?

HP Recommended

What I am saying is that according to the Microsoft article, if your hardware and SSD allow the  SED encryption, then it will be shown as an option instead of only Bitlocker.

I suggest reading  the document and trying it to see if that is the case..
