HP USB-C Dock G5
Microsoft Windows 11

I have an EliteBook 640 G9 which I need to connect to internet through the HP USB-C Dock G5 port. They are both owned by the company I work for, yet I have the admin privileges on the notebook.

The problem is that, when I connect my home ethernet cable to the docking, it cannot connect to internet and gives me Unidentified Network.

When the cable is directly connected to the pc port, it works. I  thought it was a docking problem and I called the HP support. They guide me over the software update process, however the conclusion was the docking has a hardware problem and they suggested me to change it. I was sketpical and I tried to connect the company ethernet cable to the docking station and it worked. Thus it is not an hardware problem.

I tried to call my company IT and they told me it was a Network Access Control policy but I sincerly does not understand how it is possible that if the cable is plugged directly to the pc it works and when to the dock it doesn't.

Does someone can explain it to me?

Thank you
