Yes the battery can be removed and replaced but it requires a bit of work.
See p. 28 of the Service Manual here:

The most difficult part is the two rubber strips on the bottom. Remove them very carefully trying not to stretch them out and if you do, they can be reused.
This is the part number of the battery you need:
4-cell, 53-WHr, 3.54-AHr, Li-ion battery (includes cable) L08496-855
Compatible 3rd party replacement:
