I need some information about this.
I want to upgrade my old laptop Envy 14-2166SE Beats Edition to the best processor supported. My lap has a i5-2430M 35W.

Hi,

 

On page 1 of the service manual you can see all the supported CPUs and the best one is the 

 

Intel® Core i7-2820QM 2.30-GHz (turbo up to 3.40-GHz) processor (1600-MHz FSB, 8.0- MB L3 cache, Quad Core, 45 W)

On page 67 of service manual you can see various steps to replace the CPU. Also pay attention to page 66 which explains about replacing thermal material (paste and pads) between heatsink and various chips. Use quality thermal paste and pads such as Arctic MX-4 or similar.

 

On page 2 of service manual you can see that the RAM can be upgraded to 16GB DDR3 1600Mhz.
