Hinge on HP Envy - 15 has broken

Opened my laptop this morning and found that the left-hand hinge on my laptop envy popped out. Looking at the side it seems something has gone wrong with the internal hinge mechanism. The screen in that corner is seperating from the back and it is not very possible to close or open the laptop anymore. A small screw has fallen out. No trauma to the laptop preceded this, but I did notice yesterday the hinge seemed to be clicking.

I've checked the forums and it seems that this is a common fault on the HP Envy laptop. Other accounts seem to suggest that the hinge itself is somehow defective so I'm pretty upset. Seen that one person has had to write to the VP in order to get a repair for this fault. The warranty has expired.
