You're very welcome.

Hi Paul, I did this at the cmd prompt on my laptop. Does it mean that the max ram is only 16GB (8 x 2)?

C:\users\papsk>wmic memphysical get MaxCapacity, MemoryDevices

MaxCapacity  MemoryDevices

16777216        2

Yes, that's what that report is indicating.

Very strange since the manual indicates that 32 GB is supported.

Run this command and see what you get...

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and hit enter.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

That command checks the SMBIOS.

Yes,  I did actually (16777216\1,048,576) and I got 16. Could it be mean that I can install 16gb on each 2 slots? I was really confused. I have an intel i9/12900 mhz processor and accdg to HP product report, 32 (16x2) is the max.

HP Recommended

If you ran the second report the way I posted it and got a total of 16 GB, the report is telling you the max is 2 x 8 GB.

I still find that hard to believe.

The Crucial memory report for the model series indicates that 64 GB (2 x 32 GB) is the max.
