Hello,
I have had the HP ENVY 17 for a few years (2015), the most expenssive laptop I bought and least effective of them all. the problem t hand is as follows: My machine can only work when power cord is plug in, the second power cord is removed, it dies. The battery doesnt charge and gives "Battery Plugged In Not Charging" messgae. I have had this issue for over year and a half an tried different things to solve:
1. Tried removing and reinstalling battery
2. Tried several times to uninstall and reinstall the battery drivers from device manager ( following all the steps, including powerinng off, removing battery and placing back.
3. bought a new battery , followed step #2 with the new battery
This laptop has been the laptop from hell and I'm so disappointed I spent over 1K over it. this particular problem started only after a few usages and I cant get rid of it...any suggestions ?
Thanks

Hi @EnvyPlsWork,
Thank you for joining HP Forums.
This is a great place to get support, find answers
I understand that the notebook turns off once the power chord is unplugged.
No worries, I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Did you try with a different battery?
How long are you facing this issue?
Try the below steps.
To perform a hard reset, follow the steps below.
-
Unplug the AC adapter from the notebook PC and remove the PC from any port replicator or docking station.
-
Remove the battery (in English) from the notebook battery compartment.
-
Press and hold down the power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors.
-
Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook PC.
-
Press the power button to turn on the notebook PC.
-
Use the arrow keys to highlight Start Windows Normally and then press the enter key.
Use the HP Battery Check to test the battery

Ditto Ditto Ditto.
Exactly the same problem and have tried ALL the above recomendations as well as buying a new battery etc. Still the same problem.
It must be a short on the motherboard somewhere. Please can you get a technician to email me where to look for the fix cause this is very frustrating having a laptop thats now a desktop!
