Will my AC adaptor from my Envy 17--N178ca, 19.5 V - 3.33 A - 120W - Blue tip 4.5mm, fit my Envy 17BW0008CA 19.5 V - 3.33 A - 65W - Blue tip 4.5mm. The only difference is the old adaptor is 120W and the new is 65W. I want to use one in my office and one in my kitchen. Will I damage the 17BW0008CA?

Hi,
Yes, you can use both adapters. It is never a problem when the Wattage is highe, as the PC will use only the power it needs. So you can use the 120W adapter on the PC which came with a 65W adapter. There would only be a problem if the opposite is done (if you use a 65W adapter with a PC that came with a 120W adapter, as the PC will not get enough power).
So, yes, no problem, you can use both.
Hope it helps,
David

Hi,
I was just looking at the specs of both the notebooks. Real nice PCs.
The newer one is very similar to the loaner PC HP has given me. Same CPU, GPU etc... the 17-ae100 CTO. I see you have the regular 1TB mechnical hard drive, I thought I would give you some advice for a possible future upgrade. You could insert a M2 PCIe NVMe drive in there and install the OS on it, keeping the mechanical hard drive for storage. This would give the PC a very noticeable performance boost, Before buying drive you will need to check if the slot is on the motherboard as sometimes the physical slot is missing if the PC did not come with M2 SSD. To remove bottom cover you can follow the steps on page 24 of service manual.

The M2 slot should be right next to the battery which you can see on page 26 of service manual
M2 slotEven the older PC would benefit a lot with a SATA3 SSD. There should be an M2 slot for a SATA3 SSD or you could use a 2.5" SATA3 SSD which would give good performance to the PC.

If you need any further help with any of the above, just let me know.
All the best,
David
