Envy 17t-cg100
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Does anyone have the kit part number (bracket & cable) to install a 2.5" hard drive in a Envy 17t-cg100 laptop.   I have had no luck finding this information.  Thank You

Hard Drive connector/cable L87952-001

See p. 35 of the Manual here:

Service Manual

The Manual speaks of a rubber cover for the hard drive and pictures show rails to fasten the hard drive into the laptop but these parts do not appear to be "spared" or made available by HP for purchase. You should either use a 2.5 inch SSD which has no moving parts and is not affected by not being bolted down or we can help you find a generic drive mounting kit.

HP Parts Store does not have the cable:

This kit from amazon has the cable and some generic rubber mounting rails and would be just the thing if you can get it:

Post back with any more questions and please accept as solution if this is the info you needed.

I just ordered the https://www.amazon.com/Cable-HP-Envy-17-17t/dp/B00GIGJYBG kit from Amazon.  I'll let you know how it fits in my Envy 17t-cg100.

OOps my apology. Cancel the order. That cable is for an older version of the HP 17 inch laptop. The cable you need has no right angle turn like that. Will keep looking for yours. Struck out on US eBay and amazon.com searching by part number.

Will cancel the order, thank you.  And thank you for researching this.

I just ordered the computer Friday so I really have nothing to look at other than the service guide.  I do have a 17t-Jxxx, a 17an, and a 17bx all water damaged from a flood we had here this spring opened up and drying out.  None of these look like the what I am seeing in the service guide.  I did email the HP parts people this morning.  They appear to be backed up from the holiday shopping, so I don't know when I will get a response.  I did spend 3-1/2 hrs. on the phone with HP this morning with no luck.

I guess I didn't think this one through, otherwise I wouldn't have ordered near a holiday.

You will not get very far with HP on this. Contact newmodeus.com. They specialize in laptop hard drive and SSD adapters. They may have something that will work or an idea where you can get it.

I have a cg100 and I ordered this cable: https://amzn.to/34vxpdR

it's a bit long but if you route it underneath the HDD you can avoid the right angle. Works fine for me.

I am trying to find out how to upgrade the M.2 (I know it's an undocumented driver issue) Windows setup doesn't "see" drives other than the one installed.

Hey Jeff, did your CG100 come with a HDD bracket.  If not, what did you use?

HP Recommended

It came with aluminum rails - only good for an SSD of course.
