Envy 17t
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Got my Envy laptop over two years and battery is failing. Test suggests replacement. But I always run laptop on power. Can I leave a dead battery there? If not, what is the best way to pursue replacement.

If your battery is removeable, you would be better off removing the dead battery.

It would help if you took a look at the bottom of the notebook amongst the tiny letters to locate the ProdID.

Kindly post the ProdID in your next reply to your thread.

The ProdID is identical to the product number and helps us in determining the notebook's hardware configuration.

Hi,

hanks, the product ID is V5E32AV and the battery is NOT removable! I DO NOT use this laptop with battery power, have it as desktop and when used plug in in to external power.

I really need to know IF I CAN LEAVE THE DEAD BATTERY in, your response that I would be better off to remove it is appreciated BUT can I leave it in???

Also, if essentially needed,  how could I proceed with replacement? I do not feel like I would like to open the laptop myself. Apparentle my 3Y Care Pack does not cover the battery replacement.

Your answer would be greatly appreciated.

Many Thanks

Thanks for properly identifying your notebook.

I would replace the battery with a new one to protect the notebook's system board.

The part number information is below. The replacement battery is relatively inexpensive.

If you feel comfortable replacing the battery yourself, see the remove and replace videos at the link below this line.

You can also have it done at a PC/Laptop shop.

Since I do not use laptop without power plugged in, can I just remove the battery and keep using it just plugged into the power?
