Envy X360 Laptop left hinge broken

I'm inquiring about an issue that seems to be pretty common based on your support board and google search.  The left hinge on my laptop has broken.  I use this laptop  at home and I feel for the cost of this laptop, something like this should not happen.  I also feel this is something that should be fixed for free since HP is aware of this issue.  My computer was purchased as a gift and the warranty did expire.  What is HP doing in regard to this situation? I appreciate your time and assistance in this matter.
