Hi @donnamurphyslaw,
Welcome to the HP Support Community!
Thanks for reaching out!
We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.
I understand you need to know the storage and memory (RAM) specifications of your HP Envy notebook (running Windows 😎 so you can purchase a comparable replacement. Great idea to check first!
To provide you with the most accurate information, we’ll need your notebook’s exact model number. You can usually find this on a sticker on the bottom of your notebook, it may look like HP ENVY 15-j012ea, ENVY 17-k100, or something similar.
Once you have the model number, you can:
Share it here, and we’ll gladly look up the original configuration for you.
Or, you can enter the model number directly on our HP Support website to view detailed specifications.
Tip: Many HP Envy notebooks from the Windows 8 era typically came with
4 GB to 12 GB RAM (expandable in some models)
500 GB to 1 TB HDD, or a 128–256 GB SSD on higher-end versions.
If your notebook still powers on, you can check:
RAM: Right-click Computer > Properties
Storage: Open This PC/Computer and check the size of your main drive.
When shopping for a replacement, we generally recommend
At least 8 GB RAM (16 GB preferred for smooth multitasking)
A fast SSD for storage (256–512 GB is common)
Windows 11 compatibility for best support going forward
If you’d like, please reply with your model number. We’re here to help you every step of the way and ensure you find the right match!
I hope this helps.
I'm glad I could help! 😊 If this resolved your issue, please mark it as "Accepted Solution" and click "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" Your feedback not only keeps us going but also helps others find the solution faster! 👍✨
Take care and have an amazing day ahead! 🚀
Best regards,
