Envy x360

HP ENVY x360 15-bq003AU hinge fault

The unit has never been used in anything other than the traditional laptop position, so no undue stress has been applied to the hinges. The hinge failure looks to be a quality issue rather than a user issue as there are so many users experiencing the same problem, usually just outside the period of guarantee.

Please advise what solutions are available to remedy this fault.

Thank you for posting on the HP Support Community.

Don't worry as I'll be glad to help,
I understand that your HP Envy laptop hinge is damaged and the hinge assembly is separating from the unit.

As we have limited support boundaries in the support community as of now. I would request you to reach out to our Support and our Support Engineers should be able to check the available service options in order to diagnose the computer physically. HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: www.hp.com/contacthp/

Thank you for responding, however the fault with my Envy 360 is, judging by the amount of hinge failures reported this issue is without doubt a design fault and the units should be recalled and replaced. My unit is 2 years old and therefor outside of the standard warranty so HP are not particularly interested. I notice that the same hinge system is still in production which I find irresponsible, especially on a unit specifically made to fold. Mine has never been angled more than 100 degrees (the standard laptop position) been used with care and yet it has critically failed.

HP should step up and remedy this.
