Hi all,
I am facing a decision about buying Envy x360 15-bp102no with 12 GB RAM.
But finally I must have 16 GB for using my software.
I own [not so] older version of Envy x360 - 15-bp008no with two RAM slots and 16 GB of RAM (2x 8 GB).
But on Specification page of 15-bp102no
https://support.hp.com/ca-en/document/c05861808
is stated that this model have:
12 GB DDR4-2400 SDRAM (4 GB (onboard) and 8 GB (1 x 8 GB))
So probably 4 GB is soldered.
So question is: this model have only one RAM slot for only one additional 8 GB RAM stick?
OR it have 4 GB soldered on mainboard and additional two RAM slots (as earlier model) for additional 2 x 8 GB RAM? And total 20 GB of RAM???
Additionally Service and Maintenance Guide for 15/15m-bp1xxx shows that there should not be any onboard RAM and this 15-bp1xxx series should have two RAM slots.
But above mentioned Specification page suggests something the opposite.
I don't want to buy false marketed and not upgradable laptop, because in my country there would be a problem with returning it to seller.
So I must be sure before buying.

Hi,
If you look on page 1 of service manual you can see that:
Computer models with model numbers 15m-bp1xx through 15-bp1xx:
Support for DDR4-2400 dual channel (8-GB DDR4 2666 SODIMM bridge to 8-GB DDR4 2400 1.2v SODIMM) One SODIMM memory module slot, non-customer-accessible/non-upgradable Support for 4-GB on-board system memory (512-MB×16×4pieces) Supports up to 16-GB of system memory in the following conƭgurations
● 16384-MB (16384-MB × 1; 16-GB DDR4 2666 SODIMM bridge to 16-GB DDR4 2400 1.2v SODIMM; only available on computer models equipped with an Intel i7 processor and a graphics subsystem with UMA memory)
● 12288-MB (8192-MB + 4096-MB on-board system memory [512-MB×16×4 pieces]; 8-GB DDR4 2666 SODIMM bridge to 8-GB DDR4 2400 1.2v SODIMM; not available on computer models equipped with an Intel i7 processor and a graphics subsystem with discrete memory) 1 Category Description Memory (continued)
● 8192-MB (4096-MB + 4096-MB on-board system memory [512-MB×16×4 pieces]; 8-GB DDR4 2666 SODIMM bridge to 8-GB DDR4 2400 1.2v SODIMM; only available on computer models equipped with an Intel i7 processor and a graphics subsystem with UMA memory)
● 8192-MB (8192-MB × 1; 8-GB DDR4 2666 SODIMM bridge to 8-GB DDR4 2400 1.2v SODIMM; only available on computer models equipped with an Intel i7 processor and a graphics subsystem with UMA memory)
So maybe you have the wrong service manual or are reading incorrectly. There is one slot and it is possible to have 4GB onboard (soldered to motherboard). The single slot will actually accept a 16GB stick of RAM even if service manual only mentions 12GB total with onboard RAM.
So, the max RAM will be 20GB for that model.

I overlooked this, because I skipped "1 Product description" section and go directly to read "3.2 Computer components" and further to figures in "5.x Component replacement procedures".
Thank you very much for pointing this out!
