HP ENVY X360 RYZEN 7
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi there 🙂

I am having some trouble with this new Laptop I purchased through yourselves.

I chose this as it had the Ryzen processor and I intend to do some minor gaming with it.

upon receiving the laptop, I installed the latest Bios and AMD drivers.

When I jump into a game the GPU will not go past 400mhz which results in games barely being able to hit 30fps.

Is there something I am missing?

@J40NYR,

Thank you for posting your query on HP Community,

Did you make any software or hardware changes on your PC?

Does the FPS drop while using the laptop with the Adapter or without the AC adapter?

Please provide the product number of your laptop to assist you better.

As you mentioned when you play games on your PC the FPS drops low and you have issues playing the game.

Try updating the BIOS and graphics drivers on your PC using HP support assistant and check if it helps.

Refer this article to know more information about using HP support assistant.

Refer this article to know more information about Improving Video Game Performance or FPS on your PC.

Also, try the steps recommended below.

Here's a video on how to disable the "turbo mode" that causes this issue: Click here

If you aren't able to disable it permanently, use the below steps:

If you are running windows 8 it could be an admin rights problem.

Navigate to this folder:

C:\Program Files (x86)\ATI Technologies\ATI.ACE\Core-Static

Find CCC.exe, right click>properties>compatibility tab

Tick the 'run this program as an administrator' option and hit ok.

Do the same thing for MOM.exe

You may have to restart the PC for the changes to take effect, then try disabling overdrive, restart the game to see if it fixes it.
