HP ENVY x360 - 15-cp0053cl
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Greetings and Hallucinations,

I downloaded the suggested BIOS update, but the AMI updater suggests that:

"This BIOS update is not compatible with this device."

Currently running AMI F.45, 10/23/2019

Files from: \SP142212\08497F51.exe

Hi @ninefofo

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It looks like the BIOS update isn't playing nice with your HP ENVY x360 15-cp0053cl. Since you're currently running AMI F.45 from 2019, and the updater is rejecting the new BIOS file, here are a few things to check:

Verify Compatibility

  • Double-check that the BIOS update you downloaded matches your exact model. HP sometimes lists multiple versions for similar models, and installing the wrong one can cause issues. You can find the official BIOS updates here.

Check the File Integrity

  • The image you uploaded shows MD5 hash values for the BIOS files. If you want to verify their integrity, you can use an MD5 checksum tool to compare the hashes with HP’s official values.

Try HP Support Assistant

  • Instead of manually updating, HP Support Assistant might detect the correct BIOS version for your device. You can follow HP’s guide on using it here.

BIOS Update via USB

  • If the Windows-based updater isn’t working, you might be able to update the BIOS using a USB flash drive and HP’s BIOS recovery method.

Let me know how it goes!
