HP Envy x360 13" Ryzen 5
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

Background:

I have a HP Envy x360 13" that I bought a few months ago.

I recently sent it into repair for a broken hinge (under warranty, unrelated) and it passed all checks.

I am asking the community about my issues because HP Support are not responding to my messages.

Problem:

My issue is the fan does not always turn on when the CPU heats up.

Speedfan logs show temperatures of up to 105 degrees celcius, which is of course not good for the longetivity of the device. The laptop has automatically turned itself off many times when this happens. The high temperatures have caused one of the feet on the laptop to come off.

What I have tried:

  • Changing thermal profile in HP Command Centre
  • Keeping all intakes and exhausts away from any surface
  • Factory reset laptop
  • Upgraded to latest version of BIOS
  • Windows Updates
  • HP Support Assistant updates

Please advise.

My laptop is being repaired by HP as the support representative said that the heat sink or the fan will need replacing.

Thanks for your help anyway!

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is overheating and the fan is not turning on when the computer overheats.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I see that you have already followed all the relevant steps. However, I recommend you boot to BIOS and enable the “Fan Always On” feature and check if it helps.

Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

P.S: Welcome to the HP Support Community 😊
