Since last night my laptop's been crashing and displaying a "CMOS Reset (502) The CMOS Checksum is Invalid" error message. I tried several fixes on it, and updating my BIOS seemed to fix that issue, but replaced it with a new one. Now my battery won't charge (whether powered on or off) and it's stuck at 8%. When I run HP Support Assistant, the battery check alternates between "replace" and "calibrate". I've already replaced the battery once a year ago due to some issues with overheating and the battery swelling, but I no longer have the tools to open my laptop and remove the battery. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, which did nothing. Windows and all my drivers are up to date, and I've done every update on the Support Assistant, but the problem persists. Is there anything I can do to fix this, or am I going to have to get a new computer?
