HP ENVY x360 Convertible Laptop PC 15m-ed1013dx

I've had my laptop for a few years. Shortly after I got it the battery didn't last and was sent in (under warranty) to be replaced. It didn't seem to work. Life got in the way and now my laptop will not hold a charge more than an hour. Please help.

"It didn't seem to work." Was that after the battery was replaced or did it work until now?

This is the current situation?

"now my laptop will not hold a charge more than an hour"

That means that the battery needs to be  removed and a new one installed.

If the notebook is out of warranty you do have other options.

Option 1: If you feel comfortable with doing it yourself there is that. I can help you with the proper part number and videos showing how it is done. All you would need is patience, a jewelers screwdriver set and  a small container for the screws that are removed.

Option 2: You could purchase a battery and have the installation done by a mobile technician or a laptop shop that has a good reputation.

After the battery was replaced, it seemed to work for a short period of time but still lost battery quickly. I was working from home and needed my laptop so I wasn't able to send it back. That was in November 2021. Then there was a period when I didn't need to use it as often. However, we have been doing home school for my son and we cannot be on the laptop for more than 45 minutes to an hour before having to put it back on the charger. If you want to send me the part information I will look into ordering it and replacing it myself. Is there a reason why this laptop has an insufficient battery? I have never had an issue with other laptops. I am thinking about replacing the laptop with a different brand. This is ridiculous. I have been on my laptop writing this message etc. for 9 minutes and that battery dropped 8%. This is terrible.

Send you the part number? 🤔

I take it  that you did not read my last post. I provided you with a wealth of information down to the details.

"After the battery was replaced, it seemed to work for a short period of time but still lost battery quickly" This would depend on what you mean by "a short period of time" , the power options you have set and how you used the laptop.

The notebook does not have an "insufficient battery".

It is unfortunate, but you just happen to be one of the few out of tens of thousands of notebook owners who is having a battery problem.

The battery that is currently in it has lost capacity and that could be dependent on a number of factors.

Using a notebook, putting it in a drawer  and not using it for an actual long time has a detrimental effect on a lithium Ion  battery.  It is considered best practice to not let the battery charge drop below 20%.  You will pay a penalty in service life if you don't adhere to that. This is something that does not change with a laptop's brand.

If you are using it at home for schooling, you should probably have the power adapter plugged in, unless you are in a place where that is inconvenient.

Erico,

I read your post, however, missed the part number. That was my oversight. However, your rude attitude isn't appreciated. The fact that I am having the same issue with a second battery in a two-year span is more than an unfortunate event for a few people. The laptop isn't used all day long. It is generally only used a few times throughout the day. We don't sit on the laptop and drain the battery. I can take it off the charger and work with my son, but I have to plug it back in within 45 minutes to an hour to allow it to charge before continuing his schoolwork. When at all possible, we don't allow the battery to go below 30%.

You can refrain from responding to my post.

Thanks.

You can refrain from reading this if you choose.

Sorry to read just how thin skinned you must be.

I have to be very thick skinned to read some of the tens of thousands of posts here. That is what it takes.

I was not rude or impolite, just honest in my response.
