I installed Windows 11 (23H2) on my HP Envy a few days ago. I completely erased the laptop and copied an original Windows 11 from Microsoft onto a USB-stick, with which I then installed the laptop by default. This also worked smooth.
But now I have the problem that I can't install most of the drivers that I downloaded manually from HP. With the most following happens:
- I have the SPxxxxx.exe File downloaded (one per driver).
- I doubleclick on them to open
- An installer GUI will appear and the files will be unzipped to C:\Swsetup\spxxxx.
- Now i doubleclick to the "HPMUP.exe" on each folder --> nothing happens
- Also the "install.cmd" or the "intstalldrv.cmd", sometimes there is an "Driverinstall.cmd" does not really work.
- I also found that the path "c:\system.sav\logs\..." where log files are generated.
- In some of these log files you will find the message "Error Adding Driver Package: Access Denied"
What can be the reason for that? I just installed the original Windows 11 by default and nothing else. I searched the internet for the past 7 days!

However, I have a workaround:
1. Download all necessary drivers (SPxxxx.exe files)
2. Run every single SPxxxx.exe "as administrator" --> The folder C:\SWSetup\SPxxxx will be created where the files will be unzipped
3. Since the installation process is unfortunately interrupted here, because the installer is not called automatically and does not work either, if you want to start it manually (HPMUP.exe), you now have to run the file "installdrv.cmd" also "as administartor".
4. A command prompt will appear and show some information.
5. Now the driver should be installed.
6. You can check this by opening the files C:\System.sav\Logs\installdrv.log (sometimes they are also called differently, depending on the driver package) in a text editor and check whether the drivers have been installed correctly.
Search for:
Total Driver Packages: 1
Added Driver Packages: 1
There must be 2x a "1" in it. If not, you can read more about why the driver in question was not installed (e.g. sometimes the driver does not match the hardware so it is not installed logically)
I would delete this log file every time before the next driver is installed, because the log entries are attached to the existing ones and then it gets confusing!
I hope this helps others as well.
It's really bad how buggy the HP driver packages are sometimes!!

Try right clicking on the driver package and installing as admin.
Why didn't you use the HP Cloud Recovery software solution to create an installer?
It would have installed most of the drivers for you?

You will need the serial number/product number (SKU) of your laptop for this.

"I already tried to use the cloud installer"
Really. What was the result? Any error messages?

On the "Software and Drivers" site i tryed the "Detect my softare and drivers" (before i entered my sdk)
First i had to install the HP-Framework, what worked fine
Then the HP Web Production Detection will be start. This only found:
- Intel Bluetooth Driver
- Intel WLAN Driver
Then i clicked the two checkboxes for the drivers and then install.
Then the Install Assistand would be recomended which i also installed.
The HP Download and Install Assistant downloaded the two drivers for 100%
Then i click "Install All"
I had to confirm the UAC window
Then the two drivers would be depacked to the C:\SWSetup\.. folder
Then the message appears, that all drivers has completly installed what no is true. At least the touchpad driver, what i can check by myself if its works, doesn't.
I just tried this scenario again.

When i go to the device manager there are a lot of "other devices" (not correctly installed devices)
If i click them
and then click on "update drivers"
then search my harddisk
then select the folder c:\swsetup\... (previous created by HP driver unpack)
then in most cases windows will find the drivers
... but only in most cases 😞
