Hi @Hakim47,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your laptop's date and time settings are not being retained after each restart, it could be due to a few different reasons. Here are some potential solutions you can try.

Internet Time Synchronization:

  • Ensure that your laptop is connected to the internet.
  • Right-click on the clock in the taskbar and select "Adjust date/time."
  • Go to the "Internet Time" tab and click on "Change settings."
  • Check the box for "Synchronize with an Internet time server" and select a reliable time server from the drop-down menu.
  • Click "Update now" and then "OK."

Windows Time Service:

  • Press Win + R to open the Run dialog, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  • Locate the "Windows Time" service in the list.
  • Right-click on it, select "Properties," and set the "Startup type" to "Automatic."
  • Click on "Start" to start the service if it's not running already.
  • Click "OK" to apply the changes.

BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Access your laptop's BIOS or UEFI settings during the boot process (usually by pressing a key like F2 or Del).
  • Look for a section related to date and time settings.
  • Check if there is an option to set the date and time manually.
  • If there is a setting related to automatic time updates, ensure it is enabled.

Battery Check:

  • If your laptop does not have a small internal CMOS battery, it may rely on the main battery for maintaining date and time settings.
  • Ensure that your laptop's main battery is in good condition.
  • If the main battery is faulty, it might not retain settings when the laptop is powered off.

Operating System Update:

  • Ensure that your operating system is up-to-date with the latest updates and patches.
  • Sometimes, system updates can address issues related to timekeeping.

If the issue persists after trying these steps, there may be a hardware problem,

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
