HP Notebook - 15-da0053wm

Also, my computer information displays system model "HP Laptop 15 - da0xxx" not "HP Notebook - 15-da0053wm"

The HP website identified my computer as HP Notebook - 15-da0053wm.  Im not sure why it wont pull up what my system information says or if it makes a difference.

Your Service Manual

See pages 38-50 for exactly "how to" on battery, memory and storage upgrades. Battery:

https://www.amazon.com/HT03XL-15-CS0053CL-15-DW0033NR-15-DA0014DX-L11421-542/dp/B0BQHM7M9F/ref=sr_1_...

You have a 5400 rpm 1 TB mechanical hard drive which is accelerated by a 16 gig Optane module. An Optane module is a small capacity NVME M.2 SSD. This means you need to remove the Optane module. Before you do that you have to delete the association between the Optane module and the hard drive in Intel Rapid Storage.

https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000024626/memory-and-storage/intel-optane-m....

Then replace that 16 gig Optane module with an NVME M.2 SSD. Like so:

https://www.amazon.com/Western-Digital-500GB-SN580-Internal/dp/B0C8XMH264/?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_w=6Y...

Memory is DDR4-2400 SO-DIMM and you can have up to 32 gigs as so:

https://www.amazon.com/Timetec-PC4-19200-Unbuffered-Notebook-Computer/dp/B079HJGQZ2/ref=asc_df_B079H...

Not sure where to assume your knowledge so feel free to ask questions. The storage upgrade is a modestly difficult task. You want to install Windows on the new NVME M.2 SSD and having to deal with the Optane thing adds a bit to the difficulty.

Are you positive that the computer can be upgraded to 32 GB of RAM? Is that dependant upon the upgrade of the SSD? Only reason I ask is that I remember back from initially purchasing the laptop, I read something in regards to this specific laptop that the RAM could only be upgraded to 16gb.  The whole time I've owned it I've had it in the back of my head that I needed a 12gb ram upgrade for the extra slot in order to max out it's potential.

The specs will say 16 gb is the max but its 32. You can verify by running an inquiry from the command line

Does not depend on the SSD upgrade. Having said, 16 gb total is plenty of memory for almost anyone so 32 gigs not really needed.

Are you wondering what the maximum RAM capacity of your PC is? Knowing this information can help you determine if you need to upgrade your computer's memory. In this video, we'll show you how to easily check your PC's maximum RAM capacity using Windows' built-in System Information tool. By ...
