Dear all,
I have recently bought a HP ENVY x360 13-ay0009na Convertible Laptop 2020 Edition Ryzen 7 with 16GB onboard RAM memory. I thought the soldered RAM was somehow related to how Ryzen laptops are assembled. However, the new HP ENVY x360 15-ee0002na Convertible Laptop 2020 Edition Ryzen 7 does not have ONBOARD RAM.
I understand that onboard RAM are not just plug-and-play, but in case one wants to expand it, would HP be able to upgrade it?
Many thanks.

According to the HP specs for your model, it has 16GB of DDR4-3200 SDRAM on board. So, I don't see how you can claim it has no onboard memory.

Hi WAWood,
Thanks for your comment.
My model has Onboard RAM indeed. I thought it was something intrinsic to new Ryzen laptops, but apparently not.
The main question was: Being my RAM soldered, would HP be able to upgrade it in the future if necessary?
Best wishes.

I'm not aware that HP performs upgrades to PCs, as they recommend against doing upgrades.
For this information, you would need to contact an HP Repair or Service Center.
Since you live outside the U.S., here is a link to HP Service Centers, by Country/Region: https://support.hp.com/in-en/service-center
Good Luck

Hi @MGM-UK
It is not possible to upgrade the RAM as the chips are integrated on the motherboard. It is just how these models were made. In your case it is not even possible to upgrade by replacing the motherboard as you have 16GB which is the max for any model in that series.
Hope it helps,
David

You're welcome @MGM-UK .
16GB of RAM should be more than enough for the coming years unless you are using real "memory hungry" software.
Things seem to be more and more integrated as time goes on.
Anyway, let us know if you need any further help.
Take care,
David
