HP DV6-2155DX
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I am looking to add a firewire port to my laptop to transfer video from a mini dv camcorder. Before ordering an expresscard54 firewire adapter, I need to confirm my laptop has an active expresscard slot. HP online documentation indicates my model does have the expresscard54 slot, but on my computer, it is occupied by a removable IR remote control which is not shown in any of the HP documentation.

Is there a way to confirm I have an operable expresscard slot?

We see this card around 50 times a month.

ExpressCard module (not illustrated) 464793-002

It is the Multi Media remote control.

Looks like you need to make a choice.

Thanks REO...I found the info online as well but it mentions nothing about a remote control and all images show a what appear to be a blank (cover) over the expresscard slot.

My laptop was recently updated to Windows 10. Will a firewire adapter through the the expresscard slot be complatible with my operating system?

I appreciate the quick response.
