HP Spectre x360 Convertible Laptop PC 14-ea1000 (446B8AV)

Hi I have been using a Samsung TV Monitor as an external monitor via wifi for the last couple of years with no issues up until yesterday.  When trying to connect to the monitor via my laptop and wifi the monitor is detected but will not connect.  I have tried with my spare laptop and have no issues with connecting with the wifi.  Can someone please advise what would be the best action to take to resolve this issue?  Thank you

Adjust Windows Projection Settings

  1. Press Win + P and ensure the projection mode matches your intended use (e.g., "Duplicate" or "Extend").
  2. Test switching between modes and reconnecting to the TV.

Check for Miracast Compatibility

  • If using Miracast:
    1. Type dxdiag in the Windows search bar, open it, and save the report.
    2. Look for "Miracast" under the "Display" tab in the saved file.
    3. If it states "Supported," ensure the Samsung TV is also in Miracast mode.

Restart Network Services

  1. Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
  2. Find and restart these services:
    • Wi-Fi Direct Services
    • Windows Connect Now
    • Network Connections

Test with Alternate Settings

  • Different Wi-Fi Band: If your TV supports both 2.4GHz and 5GHz Wi-Fi, try connecting on a different band.
  • Disable Firewall Temporarily: Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Security > Firewall & network protection and turn off the firewall to check if it's blocking the connection.

Perform a System Restore

If the issue started recently, use System Restore to revert your laptop to a point when it was working:

  1. Go to Control Panel > Recovery > Open System Restore.
  2. Follow the prompts to restore your system to a prior working state.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.

Hi @GemmaR,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Spectre x360 is suddenly unable to connect to your Samsung TV Monitor via Wi-Fi while another laptop can, it points to an issue with your Spectre's settings, drivers, or network profile. Here are steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

Verify and Reset Wireless Display on the Spectre x360

Remove the Device:

  • Press Win + K to open the "Connect" sidebar.
  • Select your Samsung TV monitor, then choose "Disconnect" or "Forget Device."

Re-add the Display:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.
  • Click "Add Bluetooth or other device" and select "Wireless display or dock."
  • Reconnect to the Samsung TV Monitor.

Update Display and Network Drivers

Update Graphics Drivers:

  • Right-click the Start Menu and select Device Manager.
  • Expand Display Adapters.
  • Right-click your graphics driver and choose Update driver.

Update Network Drivers:

  • In Device Manager, expand Network Adapters.
  • Right-click your Wi-Fi adapter and choose Update driver.

Check HP Support Assistant:

  • Open HP Support Assistant and check for updates.
  • Ensure both Wi-Fi and display drivers are updated.

Check for Windows Updates

  • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
  • Check for updates and install any pending ones, especially related to display and connectivity.

Reset the Wireless Profile

  1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator.
  2. Type the following commands and press Enter after each:
    • netsh wlan delete profile name="Your_Samsung_TV_WiFi_Name"
    • Replace Your_Samsung_TV_WiFi_Name with the name of your Samsung TV's Wi-Fi.
  3. Reconnect to the TV.

Hello, Thank you for your response, it was my Network Adapter, updating didn't work but removing altogether and then reinstalling worked.
