Hey HP - Is there any way to fix this issue?

Is this a driver issue to fully support S0LP?

Or a hardware firmware issue to fully support S0LP?

Has HP removed S3 sleep support from the BIOS for this notebook?

It appears that every time the machine enters modern standby it's putting the Thunderbolt/USB devices (dock) into low power state or such, and likely other system devices. When this happens my external monitors (ASUS MZ27AQ), connected to the dock via display port, become disconnected.

When I wake the machine, the monitors come back on, but Windows has moved all my open application windows to the notebook monitor.

This happens due to inactivity time out or if I lock the Windows session and don't unlock it within 10 minutes or so.

This is a work machine, so this behavior is hugely annoying and a waste of time if I have to move 15-20 windows back to the external monitors every time I walk away from the machine for a few minutes.

I have no access to BIOS setup, without corp. IT support being involved.

I've found various registry hacks to disable modern standby, haven't tried any yet. But most of these sound like Microsoft may no long support those registry hacks.

Also, some people reported that some manufactures have removed S3 sleep support from their BIOS, not sure if HP is one of those.

The only work around seems to be keeping the machine from going inactive (mouse jiggler).

Note - Powercfg seems to indicate that S0LP network connected is not supported.

It sounds like you need to contact your work's IT department if you are unable to make any Windows administrative or BIOS changes on your own.

There is no magic that we can provide if your IT department does not want you to be able to make changes through their official registry edits and permission removal.
