Hey all,

A couple months ago I purchased a variety of the G62 series with an intel core i3 processor. In the first month it was working properly and I was very satisfied. Now.. not so much.

When the system is idle, the cpu is 70 degrees celcius (158 fahrenheit). When I have a game open (any game.. and with graphics and resolution at the lowest) the temperature goes beyond 110 degrees celcius (230 fahrenheit).

I have this setup where the laptop is suspended in the air allowing complete airflow around it. I have it wired to an external monitor and keyboard+mouse. Even with this setup the laptop will shutdown and display a warning that the system was too hot.

The fan is noisy - always! - and the laptop itself is hot to the touch. How do I fix it? Thanks

Well maybe they should put that in big bold letters on the screen.

Intel core i3 processor, 4 gigs of ram and ATi HD graphics. This baby will run anything from Notepad to Calculator really well. But don't use it for anything else or it might selfignite.

Seriously though I've found out that the bearings of the cpu-fan are shot, so I'm sending it in for repairs.

Thanks for your reply. The thing is the laptop is only a couple of months old so dust hasn't gotten a chance to build up yet. The CPU is mostly around 30% load capacity which seems weird to me considering all the heat it produces. I already shutting off any programs in the system tray without help. The only thing that seemed to help was to lower the system performance drastically although that seems incredibly stupid. Why would I buy a system with somewhat powerful hardware and not be able to use it normally?

Well, I'm not too much of a techie but it sounds like a hardware malfunction or something of the like. Have you checked to make sure that your fan is working properly?

Sometimes when I start the computer it will sound like a chainsaw for 30-60 seconds. Then it returns to normal. How do I check for faulty hardware?

Hi,

Stop playing games and overrheating will not be a problem anymore. This model is not for gamers.

Had to chuckle at the fan bearing thing. No bearings whatsoever, so I hope no one charged this guy for that information or a replacement.

Does anyone know if the fan can be overclocked? I can't even get it to show a fan speed.
