Hi,
I have HP Pavilion - 14-ce0505sa and over the last few weeks and months, the fan is making noise progressively more and more. It used to make noise only when I launch something CPU intensive and now it has become so sensitive, launching every small app triggers it.
Following the page for ''HP Notebook PCs - Fan is noisy and spins constantly (Windows)'' I have
/adjusted the power settings to use 'Best power efficiency'
/Cleaned the air vents using compressed air can
/made sure there are no processes consuming high cpu, the CPU is actually not utilising that much
I dont seem to have the option for downloading BIOS update (or any softwares) as the HP download center doesnt have anything for Win11
I believe HP Command center isnt supported for Pavilion models so I cant change any thermal settings.
Contacting HP support is probably not the option as its probably run out of warranty as I bought it ~5 years ago.
Any ideas ?
Thanks

By fan noise do you mean that it spools up or is it making noises like a failing bearing?
At five+ years, that is indeed a possibility.
Have you used PC Air in a can to try to clean out the dust accumulation in the intake/exhaust ports and on the fan blades?
The thermal paste may also need to be refreshed as well to keep the processor temps down.
You can update the BIOS by using the Windows 10 versions.

Its the noise the fan normally makes when I run CPU intensive tasks. The noise itself is not problematic but its the fact that now its started making this noise a lot more frequently, every time I launch any application or any time a website is loaded.
I have now updated the BIOS but no difference.
I have also opened up the laptop, cleaned both of the fans and air vents so they are all squeaky clean, changed the thermal paste but no difference.
The only thing thats left now is to replace the fans unless there are any other ideas ?
Thanks

In Windows settings, power options, check the option that is set.
Have you check to see if the temperature is ramping up?
Replacing the fans?
Perhaps that will do it.

There is a utility titled Core Temp, which will use the temperature sensors on the PC.
https://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/
Use the HP part number and your favorite search engine to find parts.
I will edit this in a moment and return with the Maintenance & Service guide link for your laptop. The Maintenance & Service guide has an illustrated parts list in chapter 3.

According to the specs on your laptop, this is what you need. You will need two fans. See the image on pg 3, Chapter 3.
For use only on computer models equipped with a graphics subsystem with discrete memory HP part number L19159-001
Use HP L19159-001 as the keywords in a search engine as I did below to find a UK online vendor.

Thanks for your help so far.
I have downloaded the core temp .
I see the temp is usually staying between 50 and 65 but there are occasional bursts to 80/90 that cause the fans to noise. Are these temps normal ? are these bursts normal ?
So I am not really sure if that the CPU heating up more than it should or fans not doing the job properly.
I am ordering the fans now so we will see.
